To mark World Cancer Day, officials of the International Union Against Cancer (IUAC) published a report focused on steps that governments and the public can make to prevent this disease. According to The World Health Organization, cancer is responsible for one in eight deaths worldwide, more than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.

The organization has also warned us that without major changes, the number of cancer deaths will jump from 7.6 million in 2010 to 17 million in 2030. In the IUAC report experts show that 12% of cancers arise as a result of infection with papilloma virus (HPV) that causes cervical cancer, or liver infections, which lead to stomach or liver cancer.
Of course there are medicines which can cure more or less breast cancer, but still the best known treatment for any disease actually is prevention. Although in developed countries such vaccines that can cure cancer are available, in most countries they almost do not exist. Experts say that there are many ways to prevent breast cancer and this disease could be avoided if people would change their lifestyles. To reduce the risk of breast cancer you should stop smoking, limit alcohol use, exposure to sunlight and maintain a normal weight through a healthy diet and exercise.
For a woman breast health is vital. That is why regular visits to the doctor for mammograms and adopting a proper diet should be the main priorities for a woman. There are at least five classes of foods recommended mainly to women, to avoid complications of the mammary glands. All vegetables are considered the safest source of vitamins A, C, E and fiber, which protects the body against cancer. Broccoli, in the same class of vegetables, helps to neutralize toxins in the body if eaten fresh or cooked, in order not to lose their properties. Raspberries are also recommended for women, for the content of vitamin C and fiber. Another food recommended by the American specialists is soy in all its forms.

Oranges are rich in vitamins and antioxidant properties, which helps to increase body immunity. Meat and fish oil are ideal for prevention of breast cancer. They are a reliable source of omega-3 fatty acids, which prevent tumor formation and development, and contain large amounts of vitamin D. Sardines, herring, anchovies and mackerel are ideal for every woman’s meals. The foods recommended for breast health have not only the purpose of preventing tumor development, but they also improve and help regulate blood circulation and digestion.
