Famous Breast Cancer Survivors

Regardless if they’re singers, writers or actresses, they still have something in common: they are all survivors of a life threatening disease. One of the most popular breast cancer survivor to mention is Edie Falco, Sopranos star. She was diagnosed at the age of 40 and after a period of one year in which she decided not to reveal her condition to the press, she managed to successfully recover. Also, if you are a woman you must know the exceptional actress Cynthia Nixon, who played a role in the TV Series Sex and the city – Miranda Hobbes. She discovered the tumor also at the age of 40 and treated her condition with radiation and a lumpectomy. As Edie Falco and most stars affected by a disease of this kind she chose to keep her life and personal problems private and refused to make public the fact that she was suffering from breast cancer. Christina Applegate must also be a familiar face for all of you.

Known for playing the character of Kelly Bundy in the popular sitcom named “Married...with children” and many more parts in both TV series and movies, the young actress was also one of those women who unfortunately got unlucky being diagnosed with cancer. Unlike the other two mentioned before, it is definitely notable that Christina Applegate preferred to get over her problem by sharing her feelings on television or through other mass media means. To continue the list another worth mentioning star and actress is Sheryl Crow. She was diagnosed at the age of 44 and her doctors thought it was best if her cancer was treated with radiation. After recovering she supported the cause of funding research for breast cancer. Maybe one of the most often cases to appear and to be read about in magazines and in newspapers is Kyle Minogue, diagnosed very young, at 36. Her treatment included chemotherapy and after that radiations. Beside the ones above, cancer sufferers, patients and finally breast cancer survivors were also Olivia Newton John, Kate Jackson, Suzanne Somers and many others.



There are many famous women who have suffered from breast cancer and survived but sadly there are as many who still suffer from it. Although there are many impressive stories, not necessarily famous people but also common women who bravely succeeded in fighting the disease and recovering, we will present just a few, as much as we can, so than you will have faith and understand that the odds are mostly in your favor. Breast cancer may nowadays be considered a widely preventable disease.
